The wait is finally over, EPL is back to thrill and chill besides cheat all of us with the fake diving and all!. It's come to Gameweek 9 already. As far as I noticed, it seems now that more managers are willing to resort to defensive tactics to keep down the score and to make it more acceptable. At the end of the day, a win is a win; be it 1-0 or 8-0, the winning team still gets 3 point. So, what is the point?
Being too defensive, I personally feel that you take out the entertainment factor out of the game. Have you ever wondered why teams like Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid were so popular? Well, because they have the two X-factors; entertainment and the winning formula. That is what needed in the modern game.
Take Inter Milan for example. Inter Milan has been an entertaining team all along but will Inter Milan please their demandings fans? Under Mourinho's guidance and the team that they have, I am sure that the Championship will be in their hands and please the fans.
Look at Manchester United or Arsenal; even if they lose sometimes, their game is still pleasing to the eyes. The fans will not feel that they have been cheated from their hard earned money. People do not want to see Ronaldo, Berbatov, Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres and Kaka become defenders! For the sake of the game and the fans, please go back to the more open system of 4-4-2.
